How do I create an event?
No forms to fill in: type or dictate a sentence, for example "Dentist Thursday at 3pm with an alarm 1 hour before" or "Swimming every Tuesday at 6pm". Tellendar understands the date, the time and the recurrence.
How do I change an event?
Open it, then type or dictate what changes: "Move it to 9pm", "Make it Friday instead", "Add an alarm the day before".
Do I need to create an account?
No, there is no account to create and no password to remember. Open the app and write your first event.
Does the alarm ring in silent mode?
Yes. Your iPhone rings like an alarm clock, even in silent mode. You can add as many alarms as you want to the same event.
An alarm didn't ring.
Open Settings, then Tellendar, and check that alarms are allowed: otherwise they won't ring, and Tellendar says so under the event. If your subscription has ended, alarms don't ring either; they come back when you subscribe again.
Where do my sentences go?
If your iPhone has Apple Intelligence, nowhere: they are understood on the iPhone. Otherwise, and only if you agree, they go to Mistral AI, a French AI. The Privacy page has the details.
How do I link Google Calendar?
In Tellendar's settings, open Google Calendar and tap "Connect Google Calendar". Choose the calendars to show in Tellendar, and the one your new events go to.
Are my events backed up?
Yes, if iCloud is on for your iPhone. Tellendar then keeps a copy of your events and their alarms in your iCloud. This copy is updated after every change.
To check, open Tellendar's settings. The "iCloud backup" row should say "Up to date".
If it says "Unavailable", nothing is backed up. Open the iPhone's Settings app, sign in to iCloud, then turn on iCloud Drive for Tellendar.
Without iCloud, your events are only on your iPhone. Tellendar's server does not keep them.
I linked Google Calendar. Are my events also at Google?
Partly. The events in your Google calendars are at Google. Those you create in Tellendar after linking Google Calendar go there too. Those created before only go there if you agreed to send them when you linked Google Calendar, and only the upcoming ones.
Alarms never go to Google Calendar. They are only in Tellendar and in its iCloud backup.
I delete the app, then reinstall it. Do I get my events back?
With the iCloud backup, yes. Reinstall Tellendar and open it while connected to the internet. Your events and their alarms come back on their own within a few seconds.
Without the iCloud backup, no: deleting the app erases your events and their alarms. If you had linked Google Calendar, the events in your Google calendars come back once it is linked, but without alarms.
If Google Calendar no longer shows as linked in Tellendar's settings, link it again.
If Tellendar asks you to subscribe although you have already paid, tap "Restore" at the top of the screen.
I'm getting a new iPhone. How do I get my events back?
Before you switch, check on the old iPhone that the "iCloud backup" row says "Up to date". Without an iCloud backup, Tellendar has no copy to bring back on the new iPhone.
On the new iPhone, use the same Apple Account and open Tellendar. Your events and their alarms are brought back from the iCloud backup.
Tellendar works on one iPhone at a time. The next time it opens, the old iPhone shows "Tellendar has changed phones" and stops ringing. Until you open it, it can still ring. To go back to the old iPhone, tap "Use on this phone".
If you had linked Google Calendar, link it again on the new iPhone.
How do I erase my data?
In Tellendar's settings, tap "Erase my data". This erases: what the server keeps about your device, your events, their alarms and your conversations on the iPhone, the iCloud backup and the app's settings. Google Calendar is unlinked; the events in it stay in Google Calendar. The app then goes back to its first launch.
If the server does not answer, nothing is erased. Check your connection, then try again.
Your subscription is not cancelled: it is managed in the App Store settings. If you use Tellendar again afterwards, tap "Restore" at the top of the subscription screen to get it back.
To keep your events in a file, export them first with "Export my data" in Tellendar's settings. This file can be read, but Tellendar cannot import it back.
If you delete the app without tapping this button, the iCloud copy stays. To erase it, open Settings, tap your name, then iCloud, then "Storage" or "Manage Account Storage". Choose Tellendar, then "Delete Data from iCloud". The server erases what it keeps by itself after 12 months without a connection. To have it erased sooner, write to hello@tellendar.app.
